THE QUEUEING, CHARACTER FRAMEWORKS, AND FIRST TWO CHARACTERS ARE FULLY COMPLETE!
What Have we Been up to?
Over the past month, I have been developing this game rather on-and off, with certain features taking far longer than others to finish. However, with the basic frameworks for pretty much every system now complete, I think it's safe to say that the rest of development will go far smoother than ever before! The systems that we have been building have been fundamental, with the movement system already complete, the first map built, and a basic chicken-shooter system set up. More recently, I have set up the frameworks for the GUI, the characters, and more! Content-wise, I have fully completed the first two characters with abilities, animations, VFX, and models fully fleshed out! I plan on putting much more time into the project in the future to hopefully get it up-and-running fully by late June-July!
Characters
Cluckshot will have a unique character system far different from other Roblox ASYM games. Rather than horror-type elements, it will focus around a more playful and cartoonish design. This will hopefully appeal more to Roblox's overall player-base, while also retaining the fun systems that other players may enjoy. The two characters I have made so far are as follows.
Average Joe
The base, free character that the player will be able to use. Their abilities will remain relatively simple, while leaning in to Joe's caffeine addiction.
Ability 1: Trip
Joe trips and falls, but catches himself in a roll, launching the player forward.
Ability 1: Gulp
Joe pulls out a can of his favorite soda (don't question where he got it from) and takes a sip, giving him a caffeine rush, speeding him up for a few seconds.
Miner Milo
After Joe, there isn't a straight progression to what character to use next. As for Milo, they are a mine-based character with respective abilities. Their playstyle will be more risky, as missing a move or messing up will be punished.
Ability 1: Iron Express
Milo pulls out a minecart out of thin air and jumps into it for a ride. However, he is unable to steer it, and as a result upon hitting a wall or the border of the map, he is stunned for a few seconds. Luckily, Milo can ride the minecart for an infinite amount of time, but when hitting a wall, no matter how close it is, his momentum is cancelled and the stun occurs.
Ability 1: Blinding Flash
Milo flashes his headlamp, leaving a blinding flash for a few seconds. This will stun anyone in the are of effect, whether it is the chicken, or any of Milo's teammates.
